Language is a virus. It appeared by mistake, supposedly after a flu, very long ago, while we were hominids. A tiny biped ended a cough with some noises, and he repeated making of the sound on purpose.

Sleep is a virus. We’re so vulnerable when we sleep – yet we are in this state for more or less a third of the day span. We’re newborns in the hand of fate – for around 8 hours a day, almost as long as working for a wage, or a tiresome flight, or a difficult operation. “8 long hours” are long, but not when sleeping. That’s when time shrinks.

Today it occurred to me that happiness is a virus, too. We’re not supposed to be happy, it only happens, like a cold. Eventually they will develop shots and pills to get rid of it for good.
